No going back on new electricity tariff-Discos

DESPITE public outcry against a new electricity tariff regime which is set to take effect today, distribution companies across the country have said there was no going back on its implementation.

Recall that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Com­mission (NERC) had on De­cember 20, last year, rolled out a new tariff regime under its MYTO 2.1 for residential and industrial consumers, just as it equally abolished fixed charges.

PDP chief: Jonathan gave Fayose $37m for Ekiti poll

Former President Goodluck Jonathan gave Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose $37 million cash for the June 21, 2014 governorship election, it was learnt yesterday.

Murder: Court remands NURTW boss in prison

THE Lagos State Chief Magistrate’s Court, Ebute-Metta, has ordered the remand in custody of the Chairman of Meran Branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Mr. Wasiu Onibudo, over alleged conspiracy and murder.

The Court presided over by Chief Magistrate Afolashade Botoku, made the order on Friday, following an application for remand filed and argued before the court by the police prosecutor, Mr. Godwin Osuyi.
