Bank workers arrested for diverting customers’ savings

The police in Lagos have arrested three workers of the Eco Bank of Nigeria Plc for allegedly defrauding the bank to the tune of N2.7m.
The suspects – Adetunji Oluwatoyin, Obademi Oluwatosin and Ogunshina Olushola – worked at the Iyana Ipaja branch of the bank and were said to have connived to commit the alleged fraud between July 10 and 24, 2015.

Court shift Ruling on Stella Oduah’s Suit against AGF, EFCC, ICPC to Feb 17

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday further adjourned judgment in the suit filed by a former Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, seeking the enforcement of her fundamental rights for February 17.

The judgment which was earlier fixed for yesterday, could not be delivered as the trial judge, Justice Okon Abang, informed parties in the suit that the verdict was not ready due to workload.

He said February 17 was still in order, adding the 90 days stipulation for delivery of judgment had not elapsed.

How Dariye shared N1.162bn to Atiku’s firm, Mantu – Witness

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday continued its case against a former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye, with one of its detectives, Musa Sunday, telling a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Gudu how the former governor allegedly shared N1.162bn belonging to the state.
Dariye, who is now the senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District in the Senate, allegedly obtained N1.162bn ecological funds as Governor of Plateau State in 2004.

Militants hijack Merchant ship, Demand Kanu’s freedom

A merchant ship has been seized by some militants who are demanding freedom for the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, within 31 days or they will blow up the ship.
Kanu, the promoter of Biafra radio, who was arrested on October 17,  last year, is standing trial for treasonable felony before a court in Abuja. The judge has denied him bail.

Obasanjo, Babangida made corruption attractive to governors – Braithwaite

Elder statesman, Dr. Tunji Braithwaite, says former President Olusegun Obasanjo and a former maximum ruler, Ibrahim Babangida, made corruption attractive to state governors in the country.
Braithwaite said the former helmsmen’s policies and actions elevated corruption in governance, adding that many state governors were merely emulating them.

Man, 35, docked for defiling 3-month-old baby

A 35-year-old man, Oladele Oladunmoni, who allegedly poked his finger into the private part of a three-month-old baby, was yesterday arraigned in a Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos.
Oladunmoni is facing a charge of child abuse.
