INEC meets over Bayelsa election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is on the verge of meeting to decide on the possible date for the supplementary poll for the inconclusive Bayelsa State Governorship election.

Social Media Bill Contains Obnoxious Sections, Saraki Admits

The Senate president, Bukola Saraki, yesterday admitted that there are unacceptable sections against the social media in the Frivolous Petitions Bill, which has generated controversies in the country.
Saraki spoke in Abuja, while declaring open a two-day sensitisation meeting on implementation of the guidelines on gender-based violence and young persons in Nigeria, organised by Women Arise, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO).

I didn’t receive money from Dasuki, Yuguda – Senator Nwobodo

Former governor of the old Anambra State and chieftain of  the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Jim Nwobodo yesterday denied receiving money from former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki(retd).
Nwobodo also denied  being part of the PDP chieftains that shared N3.05 billion from  the former minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda.

Drama as EFCC rearrests ex-NIMASA boss, Akpolobokemi

In a somewhat commando style, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, yesterday rearrested former Director- General of Nigerian Maritime Administration Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr. Patrick Akpolobokemi, within the premises of the Federal High Court in Lagos.

Ekiti Airport - Land Owners Sue Fayose, Demand N650 Million

The owners of the land acquired by the Ekiti State Government to build an airport have sued the state and demanded N650 million as damages.
The plantation farmers dragged the state government and Governor Ayo Fayose to court for what they described as "unlawful and forcible acquisition" of their land.
