Ø How three university officials allegedly defrauded Kogi Govt of over N100million

The Kogi State government has revealed how two lecturers and another official belonging to the Kogi State University allegedly embezzled the institution’s funds to the tune of over N100m.

The state Auditor-General, Hon Yusuf Okala explained that the fraud was discovered by his screening committee on the course of their assignment.

Ø PDP Leaders Jubilant as S’Court Silences Sheriff for Good
It was celebration galore for the leadership of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Wednesday, following the Supreme Court ruling, which upheld the constitution of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led Caretaker Committee to lead the party, effectively slamming the door against the former National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff.

The 14-month battle for the soul of the PDP led to the factionalisation of the party, thousands of defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saw the party lose two crucial governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States, and deprived the country of a strong opposition to keep the APC on its toes.

Ø Minimum Wage: Our patience running out, declares NLC President
President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Ayuba Wabba, who is now a member of the Governing Board of the International Labour Organisation, ILO, after his election, at the recently concluded 106th Session of the International Labour Conference, ILC, in Geneva, Switzerland, speaks on issues ranges from the gains of the conference, green jobs, minimum wage, child labour among others.
It is good for people to express their fears, but it is also good for leaders to be up and doing. For us in Organized Labour, certainly, it is an issue that we think that is long overdue and we have gotten commitment from all levels, including from the National Assembly that they are ready to make sure that this issue is addressed once and for all. You can even see that in the last one month, an action that has been taken, the leader of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, proposed a bill to the effect that the issue of the review of minimum wage should even be a provision of the law.

Governor Ayodele Fayose has dismissed a statement credited to Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo that ailing recuperating President Muhammadu Buhari is hale and hearty after a visit to the latter in the United Kingdom.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday, Fayose urged Osinbajo to prove to Nigerians that the President they elected two years ago is indeed recuperating, adding that until evidence to the contrary is presented; he remain upbeat that the President is in a critical condition.

Ø Father puts son on sale to raise money for mother’s burial
TWO 30-year-old men, including a father that wanted to sell his son for money to organise burial of his mother, were, yesterday, arraigned in Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court, Ibadan.
The names of the accused were given as Haruna Sule, the boy’s father, and his friend, Abdulfatai Quadri. They were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and alleged attempt to sell his six-year-old son.
