The Federal High Court in Lagos yesterday
granted an order temporarily freezing N350 million allegedly traced to former
President Goodluck Jonathan’s wife Dame Patience.
The money is in an account
domiciled in Stanbic IBTC, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
said.

heard yesterday how huge sums belonging to pensioners were allegedly diverted
by former Head of Service of the Federation (HOSF) Stephen Oronsaye and former
Chairman, Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina through phoney contracts.
Maina the court was told ran a
bank account using sms and sending electronic mails.

Ø House Declines One-Minute Silence for Slain Ken Saro Wiwa, Others
The House of Representatives on
Tuesday declined a request to observe a minute silence in honour of Ken Saro
Wiwa and eight other Ogoni people who were brutally hanged on November 10,
1995.
It however, passed other related
resolutions condemning in strong terms the continuing pollution in Ogoni land
and other parts of Niger Delta, and urged the federal government to declare
Ogoni land an ecological disaster zone and invest resources to tackle the
environmental disaster with and other parts of Niger Delta.

General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami’s role in the
reinstatement of fugitive civil servant Abdulrasheed Maina emerged yesterday.

Senate ad hoc panel probing Maina’s reinstatement into the civil service and
promotion to acting director that he met with Maina in Dubai, United Arab
Emirates (UAE) last year.

Manchester City forward Sergio
Aguero was rushed to a local hospital in Krasnodar after he fainted in
Argentina’s dressing room during half-time of Tuesday’s friendly with Nigeria,
local media reported.
Aguero, who scored the winner in
Argentina’s 1-0 victory over Russia on Saturday, netted his team’s second goal

Ø $9.8m fraud: Court adjourns Yakubu’s matter until Jan. 16
The Federal High Court, Abuja, has
adjourned until Jan. 16, continuation of hearing in the fraud case filed
against Andrew Yakubu, former Group Managing Director, Nigerian National
Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
At the resumed hearing on Tuesday,
Mr Waziri Nitte, the second prosecution witness, told the court how he, along
with his colleagues, raided a house in Kaduna and recovered huge sum of money
in foreign currency.
