Ø ICPC detains suspended SEC boss, quizzes officials
The Independent Corrupt Practices
and other related offences Commission on Monday detained the suspended Director
General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr. Mounir Gwarzo, for about
four hours before releasing him on administrative bail.
It was learnt that Gwarzo, who is
also being probed by a panel set up by the Ministry of Finance, was granted bail
and asked to return at a later date.

IGP Orders Reorganisation Of SARS,
Appoints New CP
Following the recent #EndSARSnow
Campaign across the country, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim Idris
has directed the immediate reorganisation of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad
(SARS) nationwide and instant investigation into all the allegations,
complaints and infractions levelled against the personnel of the Special
Anti-Robbery Squad across the country by the IGP X-Squad of the Force.

in a statement, explained that “in the new arrangement, a Commissioner of
Police is now the overall head of the Federal Anti-Robbery Squad nationwide
under the Department of Operations, Force Headquarters Abuja.

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo
State has sworn in 28 new commissioners and 27 Transition Committee Chairmen
for the 27 local government councils in the state.
He charged them to prove their
worth in the service of the state and her people. One of the commissioners
sworn in by the governor is his biological sister, Mrs. Ogechi Ololo (nee
Okorocha). She is now the state’s Commissioner for Happiness and Couples’
Fulfillment.

Ø NGO regulation bill and tragedy of
the National Assembly
Nigeria’s House of Representative
is currently pushing a bill to regulate Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
The bill was introduced on June 2, 2016 by Umar Buba Jubril, a lawmaker from
Kogi State, elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The preamble of the bill describes
it as one “to provide for the establishment of the Non-Governmental
Organizations Regulatory Commission for the supervision, co-ordination and
monitoring of non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations etc.,
in Nigeria and for related matters.”

In a new move designed to reduce
price and ease logistics inherent in the purchase of its products, the
management of Dangote Cement Plc has signed a pact with the e-commerce platform
Jumia Nigeria to sell its cement to customers online.
At the unveiling of the deal in
Lagos, Dangote Cement, Key Account Director, Chux Mogbolu, said the cement
company was happy to partner online shopping giant, in a bid to make its
product available with ease to customers.

Ø Boy, crippled by Boko Haram, returns to Abuja, walking
There was joy at the arrival
terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja on Monday as family
members and well-wishers gathered to receive Ali Ahmadu, a six-year-old boy
from Chibok in Borno State, who was left paralysed by Boko Haram insurgents.
About three months ago, Ahmadu was
flown to Dubai for a corrective spinal cord surgery after he was overrun by
insurgents’ motorcycles when they invaded Chibok community in April 2014.
