Ibrahim Lamorde has been removed as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Lamorde had held that position since 2011.
According to report, he was replaced with Ibrahim Magu, a top level official of the Economic and Governance Unit of the EFCC
Magu is remembered as a no-nonsense investigator of the commission at its inception. He had been removed along with several other key officials by Farida Waziri when she became chairman in 2008.
Lamorde was accused of diverting N1 trillion proceeds of corruption which was recovered by EFCC.
The federal government through the Ministry of Justice directed that he be investigated over allegation of money diversion.
In reaction to his ordeal, Lamorde said the allegation of fraud brought against him was aimed at disrupting the EFCC's war on corruption.
