A former governor of Cross River State, Clement Ebri, has urged All Progressives Progress (APC) leaders to consider fielding one of Prince Abubakar Audu for the supplementary governorship election in Kogi State.
Audu, who was the party’s governorship
candidate in last Saturday’s poll in the state, died shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the election inconclusive.
In an interview with newsmen in Calabar, Ebri, who was the governor of Cross River State between 1992 and 1993 at the same time with the late Audu at his first stint at the governorship seat in Kogi, said the Audu has grown-up children, adding that the leadership of APC should do Audu a favour by fielding one of them.
Expressing shock over the death of his former colleague, he said most of Audu’s children are quite exposed and experience to step into his shoes as most of them are running a lot of successful businesses.
“I agree that this is a democracy and not a monarchy. But, to my knowledge, I think one of late Audu’s children has the capacity to take up the seat…”
