‘My brother caught my husband defiling our daughter’

Ademola Odunade, the President of Mapo Customary Court, in Ibadan has dissolved the marriage between Nike and Segun Akingbade on account of incest between the man and his daughter.
Odunade said that in the interest of peaceful co-existence, the union between Nike and Akingbade had been terminated.

“Akingbade shall, therefore, pay a monthly feeding allowance of N10,000 for the upkeep of the four children in addition to being responsible for their education and other welfare,” Odunade said.
Nike told the court that Akingbade was having carnal knowledge of their daughter, who was also their first child.
“My brother,Taiwo Adewale, caught Akingbade red handed when he was having sex with the daughter in question.
“He had on a number of occasions proven his irresponsibility on this and many more matters,” Nike said.
Akingbade denied the allegation that he was involved in incest with his daughter and accused the court of bias.
The defendant had urged the court to discontinue the trial because he had no trust that he would get fair hearing from the court.
In a letter to the court, Akingbade said the arbitrator was threatening him with seven years imprisonment without investigating the authenticity of the allegation.
“During trial, the court didn’t allow me to express myself well and the case in question was instituted to tarnish my image.
“I have started moves at the High Court of Oyo State to seek redress.
“I want to advise this court to put all trials in respect of this matter on hold pending proper investigation.
“I also urge the court to compel the plaintiff and her brother to stop spreading unsubstantiated rumour,” Akingbade said
