Dasukigate: You’re on your own, PDP BoT tells Bello, Bafarawa, others

The Board of Trustees, (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) would not lend its voice in defending or pleading for any chieftain of the party who was found guilty in the ongoing investigation of diversion of fund meant for arms purchase to contain insurgency in the North-east.
Secretary of the party Board of Trustees, Senator Walid Jubrin made the declaration while speaking with newsmen yesterday in Abuja.

During the week, a former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda and five others were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC,) before Justice Peter Afen of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, sitting in Maitama, Abuja on a 22-count charge bordering on conspiracy, bribery, abuse of office and criminal breach of trust.
Yuguda, was charged alongside with retired Col. Mohammed Sambo Dasuki, a former National Security Adviser; Shuaibu Salisu, a former Director of Finance and Administration, Office of the National Security Adviser; Attahiru Dalhatu Bafawara, a former governor of Sokoto State; Sagir Attahiru, his son and Dalhatu Investment Limited.
Findings revealed that former acting National Chairman of the party, Dr Haliru Bello is also being investigated over alleged diversion of fund meant for arm purchase into the party presidential campaign fund.
Incidentally, Bello is the acting chairman of the party Board of Trustees.
But Jubrin told newsmen that the BoT, being the conscience of the main opposition party would not support whoever must have erred on corruption as he noted that the law must take its course.
Jubrin said: “You see, the Board of Trustees, as the conscience of the party and by extension the whole party, the PDP we don’t support corruption.
“ Whoever erred on corruption in Nigeria should be dealt with, but we don’t want selective justice. Anybody that goes wrong, it isn’t only in PDP that you have corrupt people, and this Dasukigate, is one aspect that this party will not go against.
