The Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi
ll yesterday said a law should be enacted that will compel traditional rulers,
governors, ministers, senators and other public office holders to go for a drug
test.
The emir was speaking the opening
of a two-day Senate Roundtable on Drug Abuse Epidemic in Nigeria, held in Kano.

Monday as a planned workers’ strike in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry and the
North Sea pipeline outage threatened crude supply to the international market.

ONE of the candidates that
contested for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national chairman Prof.
Taoheed Adedoja, has approached a Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking the
nullification of the election of Prince Uche Secondus.
In the suit filed on his behalf by
Rickey Tarfa & Co., Adedoja prayed the court to declare ?the election of
Secondus as national chairman of PDP null and void.

Ø Buhari extends tenure of service chiefs
President Muhammadu Buhari has
extended the tenure of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel
Olonisakin and all other service chiefs.
A statement yesterday by the Public
Relations Officer to the Minister of Defence, Colonel Tukur Gusau said the
president took the decision having reviewed efforts of the service chiefs in
counter insurgency operations in the Northeast coupled with the security
situation of the Niger Delta region.

Ø David Mark illegally acquired Senate President’s official residence –FG
The Federal Government has accused
a former Senate President, David Mark, of illegally acquiring his then official
residence as his private property.
In September this year, the
government, through the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the
Recovery of Public Property, which is chaired by Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, gave
the former Senate President a 21-day notice to quit the mansion.

Ø Emirates Confirms Death of Nigerian Onboard Dubai-Lagos Flight
Dubai-based carrier, Emirates
Airways, has confirmed that a young Nigerian lady, Kofo Abaniwonda, died
onboard its flight from Dubai to Lagos last Friday.
The spokesman of the airline said
that the cabin crew onboard Flight EK 783 from Dubai to Lagos on December 15
found a passenger unconscious in her seat as the flight was preparing for
descent.

Ø Suspected female kidnapper lynched in Kwara
A suspected kidnapper was lynched
by a mob on Monday in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Our correspondent gathered that the
woman had gone to a school within the Kikanlo area of Ilorin and allegedly
attempted to steal twin babies whom their mother dropped in the school.
