buy an occasional perfume, or a sophisticated watch or a sharp business suit or
even a black shoe which is one too many.
But when this shopping shift from impulse to compulsive, that’s the
first sign that you seriously becoming a shopping addict.
Psychologists call it compulsive
buying disorder, and it is characterized as an impulse-control issue, just like
gambling or chocolate eating. Compulsive buying disorder has the potential to
create a whirlwind of emotional and financial distress.
In a lot of case, it wouldn’t be
easy to tell if just love buying things or you are addicted to it. Many people
love shopping and many spend a lot of money in buying unnecessary items.
Here are some signs that your
buying is becoming a problem and you are a shopping addict:-

You easily buy things
that are of no relevant to you but think it will be a good addition to your
home. Or Buy items you already have at home like another lamp holder, 5 shoes
of the same color or additional I Pad.

Hiding your
purchases
If you constantly
hid what you buy from others especially family members and friends either under
bed, in closet or in your car, my friend you have a serious shopping addiction
which might be a sign that you are over spending.
3.
You have a
lot of unopened items
When you suddenly find out you have a lot
items and boxes at home accumulating dust and still in the shopping bag you
bought them and their tag still attached, this shows you need help.
4.
You can’t
just buy one
You can’t just
buy one pair of shoe, you want to buy the same shoe but different brand and get
up to 6 to 7 pairs. That is troubling; this sign shows that your shopping is
controlling you. And you need immediate help.
5.
Guilt or Remorse

How often do you feel remorse or
guilt when returning home after a shopping spree? If it's often, you might be
struggling with a spending addiction.
You should be able to return from a
shopping trip pleased with your purchases. If you're feeling the opposite, it
might be time to seek help from a therapist.

You are always happy when you are buying
Shopaholics are
always happy when they are on shopping spree. They find themselves anxious and
lack concentration when they are not shopping. When you start finding that
excessive shopping is the only ways to relax then you need to seek help.

Overspending
the house budget
Overspending on
things you don’t need year in and year out shows a serious sign, most times you
spend what you don’t have and accumulate a lot of debt in the process. This shows you are a
shopaholic and need serious therapy.
When you find yourself in this kind of situation you need help and
you can start by asking a friend or family member to help keep you in check. But
it might be better to seek professional help. Compulsive shopping is a serious addict
and if not checked on time might cause a lot of problem between spouses or with
family members. You have to first recognize that you have a problem and seek
for solution accordingly
