Indecent Dressing in Children

It was so dishearten reading a piece my friend sent to me on Facebook, about a mother getting very angry with a young guy at the mall because he was chatting up her 15year daughter. The girl in question was dressed looking like a 25year old, the little girl had human hair, heavy makeup on, I mean all the works, foundation, trimmed eye brows, long lashes, long nails and red lipstick, she had on a very short skirt and an iPhone 6 in hand, believe it or not she had a Gucci bag to compliment the dressing!!.

Shouting erupted when the guy in his 30s, cornered the 15 year old in an obvious attempt to get her number.  The woman was screaming at this young man telling him that her daughter is only 15, calling him a pedophile and all other unprintable names. I was surprised that she blamed the young man, when she was the one who put her daughter on display my friend said, she transformed this little girl into a 25 year old woman who had the looks of an available young lady, but lacks the requisite intelligence required to ward off predators like the young man.

Indecent dressing is a deliberate exposure of one body part to the public and that happens to be the order of the day now. Our youths and even elders don’t see anything wrong with this as they see it as following the trend of the society, flaunting their body curves, thighs, waist and even cleavages.
The biggest debates on the topic of indecent exposure right now are the kids. The question now is should they be allowed to dress indecently? Are we to turn our children into adult before the proper time? Do we have the right to brain wash them into believing that improper dressing is what’s right for them?
As a mother, I definitely feel the pain as clothing is quickly becoming too short and too revealing for girls, while on the other hand boys have a wide selection of ’grown up’ clothing.
The question mothers like me are asking is, why are we sexualizing our kids? Why does our 3, 5 or 9 year old girls looking like chicks? Why does she have to look hot or sexy in smoking red shoes?
Why is our 10 year old sons going around with comb in their hairs and their pants sagged almost to his ankles? If our children wear bum shorts out of the house at the age of 4, why shouldn’t she be expected to wear a longer one at the age of 14? If she wears 2 rings and a dozen bangles at the age of 4, why wouldn’t she have a second ear hole at 15 and a belly button at 17? And the boys pierce his own ear at 15? Why are we setting up our kids to be indecent and immodest starting from an early age?

Some parents even dress their children like this to religious outings. What are we then teaching our children?
As parents, we owe it to them a very proper and modest upbringing. Kids can look beautiful and decent when they cover up. In this day and age where child abuser are on the increase, it would be better and nice if we don’t make our children the object sexual abuse.
Let’s teach our girls that they don’t have to expose their bodies and be seen as a sex object before she can be reckon with in the society. And teach our boys that money is not everything and women are not created to just satisfy their sexual urges.

Let our children be children. Don’t steal their youth from them and make them an adult without their consent. And let us parent be the ideal role model to our kids.

Please share your though and views on this subject and we appreciate it if you can share this article with other parents. Let’s make our world clean, safe and decent for our kids. Thank you
