Ø  Maryam Sanda’s mother, brother charged with Bilyamin’s murder

A former executive director of Aso Savings and Loans Maimuna Aliyu, her son Aliyu Sanda, and another lady were yesterday charged by the FCT Police Command for alleged concealment of evidence at the crime scene of the suspected murder of their son-in-law, Bilyamin Bello, by her daughter Maryam Sanda.
This was contained in an amended charge filed by the police at the resumed hearing of the murder case holding at the FCT High Court Abuja.

Ø  ICPC arrests former SMEDAN DG over alleged fraud
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested the immediate past Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), Alhaji Bature Masari.
Spokesperson of the commission, Mrs Rasheedat Okoduwa, said in a statement on Thursday that Masari was arrested over alleged fraud in the award of contracts while he was in office.

Ø  Buhari: looters won’t return to power in 2019

The National Judicial Council has rejected Justice Adeniy Ademola’s purported notice of retirement saying he has already been recommended for compulsory retirement.

Ø  FG commences partial commercialisation of NIPOST
At last, the Federal government  has kicked off the much awaited modernization and restructuring of the Nigerian Postal Services, NIPOST with the inauguration of a steering Committee and project delivery team for the sector.

Ø  FG turns back ship load of killer rice
The Federal Government has foiled attempt by one of the leading rice producing nations to donate ship load of poisonous rice to the country for use at the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in the northeast.
It also alerted the Nigeria Customs Service and other law enforcement agencies of plot by smugglers to flood Nigerian markets with over 1million tons of foreign rice, said to have been warehoused in neighbouring Republic of Benin, especially as the Christmas and New Year season approaches.

Ø  Some Nigerians in Libya not willing to return
Charge d’Affaires of Nigeria in Libya, Mr Illiya Fachano, says some Nigerians in Libya have refused to be repatriated inspite of the “unfavourable situations” .
Fachano told the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday: “not all of them want to come back home”.
“Before you can assist them, they will have to sign a consent form, after which emergency travel certificates are issued.

Ø  Suspect Commits Suicide in Court
A suspect, one Wasiu Alowonle, thursday jumped to his death at the premises of the Ogba Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, where he was brought for the continuation of his trial.
  Alowonle was said to have been arraigned before the court by the police for theft.
When his case was adjourned, he was taken to the Kirikiri Minimum Security Prison in Lagos, pending his next court appearance before Magistrate O.I Raji.

Ø  Nigeria to retire 403 military men next week – Official
A total of 403 military personnel would retire from the armed forces next week, Air Vice Marshal Austine Jekenu, Commandant, Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), has said.
He told newsmen on Thursday in Lagos that the retiring military men were drawn from the Army, the Air Force and the Navy.
