for JAMB registrar’s resignation.
FOLLOWING alleged lopsidedness in the on-going registration
of candidates by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, the Chairman,
Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) University of Ibadan Chapter, Dr
Deji Omole has called on the Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede to
voluntarily resign from office.
The academic union also asked the Minister of Education,
Mallam Adamu Adamu to call the registrar to order to lessen the difficulty
being experienced by the candidates.

Arrest Administrator of Ijumu in Connection with Dino Melaye’s Assassination
Attempt
The Police Special Squads drafted from Police Force
Headquarter Abuja have arrested the administrator of Ijumu Local Government
Area of Kogi State, Hon. Taofiq Isah, in connection with the assassination
attempt on Senator Dino Melaye.
Taofiq was arrested yesterday at about 1.30 p.m. at
the premises of the Ministry of Education, Lokoja, where he had gone to visit
the state Commissioner for Education, Hon. Sunday Tolorunleke.

war: FG Seeks review of CCT, Tax Laws
THE Federal Government yesterday
directed the Nigerian Law Reform Commission, NLRC, to review statutes relating
to the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, and the Tax Appeal Tribunal, so as to
reposition the institutions to be “more efficient, effective and alive
to their responsibilities
Equally on the list of
institutions that FG wants the Commission to bring in line with international
best practices included the Investment and Security Tribunal.

Ø Naira appreciates further against
the dollar
The naira has appreciated by N12 against the US
dollar in the parallel market.
The is coming due to $62 million dollar supply to
Bureaux de Change segment by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
CBN yesterday sold $20,000 to 3,170 BDCs, amounting
to $62 million supply into the segment.
Following the development, the parallel market exchange rate went down
from average of N397 per dollar on Tuesday to N385 per dollar at the close of
business yesterday

53 IN
COURT FOR ATTENDING GAY MARRIAGE
Police, yesterday, arraigned 53 persons, who were allegedly
arrested during a gay marriage, before a magistrate’s court in Chediya-Zaria,
Kaduna State. The prosecutor, Mannir Nasir, said the accused were arrested on
April 15 at a motel and were being charged for conspiracy, unlawful assembly
and belonging to a gang of unlawful society.
